Joyce Lynn Sturdivant Barker, 77, of Pflugerville, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010. She was born on December 13, 1932 in Temple, Texas to Freddie Bib and Bertie Bell Sturdivant. She graduated in 1950 from Buda High School. She married Carl Louis Barker on September 18, 1954.
Husband, Carl Louis and brother, Lee Sturdivant, preceded Joyce in death.
Her son Carl Wayne Barker and daughter, Nancy Hansen and her husband Bobbie; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive her. Sisters Virginia Sturdivant Woods, Vera B. Schott and brother, Dwight Sturdivant and wife Judy and sister-in-law Patsy Sturdivant also survive her.
For over 50 years, Joyce and Carl owned and operated the Barker Wallboard Supply Company, retiring in 1997. She had been active in Windsor Park Baptist Church and currently a member of First Baptist Church of Pflugerville. Joyce was also a member of the Travis Chapter #472 order of the Eastern Star of Austin.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 26 at the First Baptist Church of Pflugerville. Interment followed at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
