Mary Frances Schmeltekopf Pryal, 68, formerly of Gastonia, N.C., died of cancer early Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, N.C. Mary was born December 8, 1941. She graduated from Kyle High School in 1960.
Mary is survived by her husband of 46 years, Al Pryal; three children and five grandchildren: Mark Pryal and wife, Heidi of Silver Spring, MD; Alison Dickey and husband, Jonathan of Bethesda, MD and their children Sarah, Joshua, Caroline and Lauren; and Michael Pryal and wife, Katie of Durham and their son Adrian. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Rev. Robert Schmeltekopf and wife, Bettye of Kerrville; Dr. Donald Schmeltekopf and wife, Judy of Waco; Addie Schmeltekopf of New Braunfels and Lilla Schmeltekopf of Fort Worth.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Watts Street Baptist Church in Durham with Rev. Diane Hill presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hock Family Pavilion, in care of Duke Home Care and Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Durham, NC 27704.
