STAFF REPORT
Hays CISD’s Community Education program is adding two English-as-a-second language courses to its curriculum of noncredit online courses offered to adults of the school district.
Participants in Easy English 1 will learn the basic English skills they need for real-life activities including shopping, job-hunting, and handling medical emergencies. Interactive games, videos, and audio conversations will help beginners master grammar and vocabulary skills step-by-step.??In Easy English 2, students will build on their knowledge as they master intermediate English skills. They will learn a wide range of English words and phrases they can use at school, at work, and in the community.?? These courses are part of Hays CISD Community Education’s growing catalog of more than 300 instructor-facilitated online courses. Through well-crafted lessons, expert online instruction, and interaction with fellow students, participants in these courses gain valuable knowledge at their convenience. Students have the flexibility to study at their own pace combined with enough structure and support to complete the course. The coursework can be completed at any time from anywhere with an Internet connection.
New sessions of each course run every month, lasting six weeks, with two new lessons being released weekly (for a total of 12). The courses are entirely web-based with comprehensive lessons, quizzes and assignments. A professional instructor facilitates every course; pacing learners, answering questions, giving feedback and facilitating discussions.??To learn more, call Hays CISD Community Ed at 512-517-3457 or visit them online at http://www.ed2go.com/haysCISD
