ACC picks firm for Hays design

The San Francisco-based Gensler firm has been chosen to engineer and design an Austin Community College campus in Kyle, pending the results of the Nov. 2 annexation election.

The college district announced the firm’s selection this week along with other firms expected to design campuses in the San Marcos, Bastrop and Elgin school districts.

ACC has property under contract in four of the five school districts in which voters will decide next month whether to join the college’s taxing district.

The architectural firms were chosen from 56 that responded to a request for qualifications issued this summer for the work.

Depending on election results, the first phase of the Hays CISD and San Marcos CISD campuses could be completed in time for classes in fall 2013, college district officials said.
