Kyle police are investigating the aggravated sexual assault of a child allegedly committed by a San Marcos resident, police say.
Tyson Culp, 27, was arrested July 13 for having undisclosed sexual contact with a girl under the age of 14, a Kyle Police Department officer said. In Texas, the age of consent is 17 years old. The case has been forwarded to the department’s Criminal Investigation division, the officer said.
Aggravated sexual assault is a first-degree felony and Culp has since been released from Hays County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
Woman arrested for child abandonment
A woman who briefly left two young children in a vehicle late at night while she went into a Kyle grocery store was arrested for child abandonment, police say.
Deborah Felan was charged with the state jail felony on July 25 after she deserted two children, aged seven months and three years old, in her vehicle at the HEB parking lot around midnight. The vehicle was still running and the doors were unlocked, a Kyle Police Department officer said.
A passerby noticed the children in the vehicle and called the police, the officer said.
The 47-year-old woman has since been released from Hays County Jail on bonds totaling $10,000.
