Buda mulls ‘single stream’ recycling

Christmas cheer will radiate as the Buda Trail of Lights returns for the second year of fun, fellowship, music and holiday splendor at Historic Stagecoach Park. Mark your calendars for December 16-22 from 6-10 p.m. and don’t miss out on this free family event. Park visitors will enjoy a spectacular display of twinkling lights illuminating Historic Stagecoach Park with various Christmas scenes and displays from local businesses, churches, neighborhoods and organizations. Free shuttle buses will run from the Cabela’s parking lot to the Trail of Lights as there is no onsite parking. If your business or organization would like to have a display, please contact the Buda Parks and Recreation Department at (512) 312-0084 to register.


The City of Buda is seeking sponsorships and volunteers for the Trail of Lights to make this year’s event more extravagant. If you are interested in sponsoring the Trail of Lights or being on the planning committee, there is a special organizational meeting scheduled for December 1 at City Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend the planning meeting. The 30th annual Budafest runs from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5 on the greenbelt, Main Street, Library parking lot, and City Park in downtown Buda. Budafest includes over 100 artisan booths, food booths, parade, full carnival and musical entertainment. The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on December 4, starting at the Buda Fire Department and heading north on Main Street to City Park. Main Street will be closed during daylight hours on December 4 and December 5 for the event. Join the Buda Downtown Merchants’ Group for First Thursday, December 2 from 5 to 9 p.m. Local residents and visitors are encouraged to wander the unique and specialty shops filled with holiday décor and treasures guaranteed to provide plenty of comfort and joy! Activities for the evening include carriage rides provided by Crawley and Paula Gazaway. Join Jan and Judy, Heflinger/Belgium draft horses trained by the Amish, as they take you on a ride through downtown Buda. Children under three are free; ages 4 – 12 years are $3.00; and adults are $5.00. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event at Buda Grocery and Grill and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Don’t miss stories and activities at the Buda Public Library (open until 8 p.m.), inflatable fun with The Jumpy Place, and holiday music provided by The Connection Church.
