Odds & Ends

It was indeed a celebration, the charter celebration service in St. John Lutheran Church in Uhland on Sunday, February 20. Gathered were many visitors from various Lutheran churches, members of St. John and other visitors who were indeed welcome.
Participants in the service were Rev. Roger Hotopp as Liturgist, Preacher Rev. Michael Newman, Pianist, Mrs. Gladys Sorrell and Mr. Ron Salewsky as Reader. Rev. Newman gave a very inspiring sermon in which he challenged the congregation to practice (four Cs) Commitment, Contribution, Care and Call.
Rev. Hotopp and Rev. Newman served the Lord’s Supper. New members, John and Susie Carter, were received and welcomed to the membership. Rev. Newman presented the new charter with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod to Charlie Orn, church council president and secretary, Barbara Hanna.
Many thanks to all that helped with the bountiful and delicious meal, the lovely table decorations and flowers, etc. and all other chores that needed to be done.

Congratulations to Ranson and Cooper Moore on placing (both boys did) fourth in the Swine Breeding Class at the San Antonio Show. They are showing in a Pig Show in San Angelo this week.
Don’t forget the Caldwell County Youth Show is this coming weekend.
Many of our residents in the Uhland area have been ill with the “flu.” Some even had their shots; hope all are well by now.
Hulda Wisian is not feeling up to par. Her daughter, Shirley, came to spend the weekend and son Bobby Wisian of San Marcos visited Sunday. Stay well, Hulda.

Several more military service names were added to the list for which we are grateful. About 24 pictures and histories have been received and will be put on the Wall of Honor and Memory in the Community Center very soon.
