Buda Parks and Rec
by JACK JONES
Now that the busy summer season has passed and the kids are back in school, the City of Buda is seeking residents who have the time and desire to serve their community by volunteering to join a board or commission. Although there are several to choose from, I would like to focus special attention on the Parks and Recreation Commission which has three vacancies that need to be filled with parks and recreation enthusiasts.
The Parks and Recreation Commission is comprised of seven members appointed by the City Council to fill two-year, staggered terms. The role of the Commission is to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council with recommendations on policies, rules and regulations relating to the administration of the public park and recreation program. In addition, the Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on all matters regarding parks, recreation, open space and trails and will assist in the future development of Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan for Buda.
