On behalf of the Hays County Food Bank, I would like to invite everyone in Hays County to join us for a brisk walk that will be good for your heart, physically and spiritually. On Sunday, October 17, we will be walking in the Buda/Kyle CROP Hunger Walk.
The CROP Hunger Walk is a really great community event – an opportunity for everyone to show that they really care about fighting hunger and poverty, aiding refugees, and contributing to the vital self-help development programs for which Church World Service has been known for over 64 years.
Church World Service is working around the world, but 25 percent of what we raise by walking will go to The Hays County Food Bank and the Food Pantry at Buda United Methodist Church, to help our neighbors right here in Hays County.
Our afternoon of CROP Walking will help families in Kenya tap into new sources of clean water, assist refugees from Burma as they struggle to survive in camps along the Thai/Burma border, enable families in Guatemala to grow more and better food, and assist communities working to recover from storms in parts of the United States.
Please, come CROP Hunger Walk with us. Volunteer, sponsor a walker, or work those muscles with your own congregation or group. Use the Web to be part of the CROP Hunger Walk. Visit cropwalkonline.org to find out more. It really will make a world of difference. And can’t we all use a little more exercise?
You can register online today and begin gathering sponsors at www.cropwalkonline.org. For additional information or to volunteer, please contact Kate Shaw at [email protected]. Thank you.
