September gardening activities

In reference to the article “Kyle council awards community services grants to non-profits,” I would like to say that Brad Pickett is absolutely right that government should not be allocating taxpayer funds for this purpose. I have no doubt that the charities are worthwhile causes, but it is wrong to take someone else’s money to donate to charity. It should come right out of the pockets of the donors. The mayor acknowledges “these tough economic times”, but has no problem with contributing to the tough economic times of the unwilling donors. Charity should come from the person giving to it. It should not be taken from someone else. The majority of the council has taken OUR money and given it to THEIR pet charities. We should be allowed to give our money to OUR pet charities. The charities in question will get more private donations if the citizens have more of their own money to donate. It’s a shame the mayor and most of the council did not seem to comprehend what Mr. Pickett said.
