Troop 125 boy scout Joshua Waylon Hamill has been working hard recently at his one-time campus, Fuentes Elementary School, even though he is a seventh-grader at Simon Middle School. Joshua has been helping beautify our school by weeding gardens and moving landscaping stones from one area of the campus to another.

Fuentes Principal Gina Butcher wrote in a letter to Joshua’s scout leader, “I am writing to you to express our gratitude toward Joshua Waylon Hamill, one of your members, for all his help to us. Young Mr. Hamill recently spent several days moving a great number of landscaping stones from the front of our school to the back. His efforts in performing this arduous and time-consuming task have not only improved our school’s appearance, but have made the front drive a safer place for the landscaping crew to work.”

Butcher concludes her appreciative remarks by congratulating Joshua’s scoutmaster on having “such a great representative of your organization.”

Joshua, who is working on the community service portion of his First Class rank requirements, has cleared out three garden beds behind Fuentes Elementary, bagged weeds and turned soil so that students can plant their gardens. He chose Susie T. Fuentes Elementary to provide service hours for his community to express his love and admiration for the school and his past teachers. He is among the first class of students to have attended Fuentes from Pre-K through fifth grade.

The entire Fuentes Elementary School family extends heartfelt thanks to soon-to-be First Class Scout Joshua Waylon Hamill.
