In Touch With Tourism

by ALISHA BURROW

Christmas radiates throughout the season for the Buda Trail of Lights at Historic Stagecoach Park. This popular Christmas experience will open for its 2nd season on Dec. 16 and run through Dec. 22 from 6-10 p.m.

Celebrate the holidays with friends and family and walk the Trail enjoying holiday songs, food, and more while weaving through the park and its many animated light displays.

The Buda Trail of Lights is a walk-thru animation display that transports visitors into the very heart of Christmas. The Trail winds its way through the historic 51-acre park, and takes visitors down a 1-kilometer trail into a holiday wonderland. Guests travel through a variety of different displays, each with their own theme, from fantasy to nostalgic. Life-size – and some larger than

life – three-dimensional characters have their own special housing so guests can “peek” in on the fun happening inside. Festive holiday music is carried throughout the trail and visitors are sure to find themselves singing along.

This year, the Buda Trail of Lights brings new features including Santa’s Village, where visitors can catch a glimpse of Santa’s reindeer and visit with Santa, and a live nativity scene. As the grand finale to the Buda Trail of Lights, visitors are invited to top off their evening in historic downtown Buda December 16th through December 18th. Activities include carriage rides on Jan and Judy, Heflinger/Belgium draft horses trained by the Amish, as they take you on a ride through downtown Buda. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be purchased in advance by calling (512) 295-7446. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $5 for adults; children ages 4 to 12 years are $3; and children under 3 are free. Shop local for your last-minute shopping! Merchants will be open late until 9 p.m., activities will be provided by 2010 Hays High School Project Graduation, and delicious goodies like hot cider and hot chocolate will be provided by downtown restaurants.

The Buda Trail of Lights is a free event sponsored by the City of Buda. Complimentary shuttle to the park is available with all parking for the Buda Trail of Lights at Cabela’s. For more information please contact the Buda Parks & Recreation Department at (512) 312-0084.
