Behold the bounty of the butterflies

Odds & Ends

by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN

Another beautiful week of warm weather, just right for outdoor activities – well until Sunday morning, when it got kind of “nippy.” What we need is a couple of inches of rain.

Speaking of beautiful, St. John Lutheran Women’s Guild had their Christmas party in the beautiful home of Sandra Jones. A delicious carry-in lunch was enjoyed, followed by an inspiring program by Barbara Hanna and Jean Collier. It was announced that several packages of collected items for service personnel would be mailed before Christmas and another collection will be made for future mailing. Please join in this worthy cause. The food bank received a good amount of non-parisble food items, but it always is in need of more. Thanks!

It’s always nice to have company, but a lot nicer when a grandnephew, who you have not seen for several years, calls and comes for a visit. Justin Stuenkel, son of?Barry Stuenkel and grandson of my brother, the late Lee Stuenkel, came for a visit and caught up on a lot of family history. Justin lives in San Marcos, where he attends Texas State University. We’ll be seeing more of him and hope he passed his exam.

More good news, on last report Sheryl Shelley has regained movement of her arms and legs, recognizes her family and is talking, after suffering a stroke. She is recovering in Breckenridge Hospital in Austin. Our prayers are with her and the family. She is the wife of Parrish Shelley, mother of Lance, Brittany and Trent and the daughter of Lois and Ed Daugherty.
