Less than a half-hour into a Monday budget workshop, the Hays County Commissioners Court abruptly pulled the plug on the session after it was pointed out that the meeting wasn’t properly posted as required by state law.
The meeting’s agenda was posted on the bulletin board outside the courthouse in San Marcos, as required by the Texas Open Meetings Act. But it was not available on the county’s website over the weekend as is required by counties with more than 65,000 residents.
The agenda was posted online about a week prior to the meeting but was apparently taken down late last week when the agenda for Tuesday’s regular commissioners court session was put up, said Mark Kennedy, the Hays County District Attorney civil division chief and the court’s attorney.
The court adjourned after Kennedy told them he didn’t feel comfortable proceeding with the meeting.
