Pardon-happy gov frees cop-killing folk hero

William (Bill) August Ehrlich, 81, peacefully said goodbye to this world and joined his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Tuesday, July 27, 2010.


He was born January 1, 1929 in Colton, TX. He married his love Leola Wimberly on March 17, 1951 and they spent 52 amazing years together. Bill served his family and country proudly as an Army Sergeant in the Korean War. He then spent most of his life in the refrigeration business and as an active member of his church. In his later years, he enjoyed working for Harrell Funeral Home and then retired to Emeritus (Redwood Springs) in San Marcos, where he truly enjoyed his friends and loving caregivers and giving everyone a hard time. They were a bright light in his life!


He is preceded in death by his wife, Leola Ehrlich; son, Steven Ehrlich; grandson, Cody Slaughter; parents, William Ehrlich and Frieda Stolle; brothers, Ervin Ehrlich, Harold Gene Ehrlich and Robert Ehrlich.


He is survived by his daughters, Sheri Mack and husband, Donald, Sandy Slaughter and husband Russell; sister Charlene Olsen; grandchildren, Tiffany Deutsch and husband Paul, Shelly Plumley and husband Michael, Steven Lee Ehrlich, Dusty Mack and Ryan Slaughter and great grandchildren, Jackson, Dylan and Dayne Deutsch and Kaitlyn and Clayton Plumley and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral services were held on July 30 at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle, with final resting place beside his beloved Leola at Forest Oaks Memorial Park in Austin.
