Dennis “Denny” Albert Gregorcyk, 65, of Kyle, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2010 after a valiant 10-year battle with colon cancer. He was born on December 8, 1945 in Alice, Texas. He was well known in the Austin and Hudson Bend area of Lake Travis. He owned and operated Denny’s Automotive Paint and Body Shop for the last 40 years in the Hudson Bend, Austin, Rockport and Corpus Christi areas. He enjoyed fixing up old cars and going to car shows where he made numerous good friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Frank Gregorcyk.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gertrude and Utah Hamilton of San Marcos; daughters, Heather and husband, John Haferkamp of Round Rock and Shelley Vatzlavik of Dallas; grandchildren, Sara Haferkamp and Riley Vatzlavik; sisters, Donna Hughes and husband, John Hughes of Kyle, Sherry and husband, Jack Branham of San Marcos; niece, Dawn Moers of Mountain City and nephew, Jason Vaught of Gaeta, Italy; one great-nephew and two great-nieces; and most of all his beloved dog, Gadget; and numerous friends that helped him through his difficult times.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, December 13, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kyle. Burial followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale. The family would like to extend a special thanks to CTMC Hospice and Angels for Elders staff.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Dennis’ memory to CTMC Hospice Care, 1315 N. IH-35, San Marcos, Texas 78666.
