Buda Library June offerings include Job Search workshops

Buda Job Search workshops will continue 9 a.m. Fridays in June for everyone who is unemployed or in job transition. These workshops cover several topics: "Cover Letters that Connect" on June 12th; "Build a Better Resume" on June 19th; and "Job Interview Skills" on June 26th.

This program is free to the public and seating is limited to the first 15 participants. Guests of the program should bring their resumes and job search tools for evaluation one-on-one. Comments by past participants are a sign of success. One said, "This was the best such program I have participated in." Another told Buda librarians, "This program has been very helpful to me; I have learned something new in every class."

The City of Buda Library hosts Buda Job Search with the help of the Friends of the Buda Library. The sessions, running since May, are facilitated by Michael F. Carroll, a former Human Resources executive.

"I am very pleased," Carroll said. "We need to tweak some things, but everything is in place to go on. I was particularly pleased with the number of people who got very serious about completing their certificate."

Bob Elder, a long-time member of the Friends, observed how professional the presentations and handouts were.

Many other free programs are available at your Buda Library. The Summer Reading Program for school children is underway and there are storytimes and many other special activities all week long throughout the summer. Check the events and activities at the web page http://www.buda.lib.tx.us/ or give your librarians a call at 295-5899. They will be happy to answer your questions.
