John R. Davis, 77 years, 11 months and 28 days, of Bastrop, passed away June 8, 2009. He was born June 10, 1931 in Williamson County to James Randolph and Ellen Milligan Davis. He graduated in 1948 from Buda High School. John is survived by wife of 58 years Sue Payne Davis; son Randall Alan Davis (Gail) of Lubbock; daughter Cynthia Susan Franje (Jerry) of Corpus Christi; brother Odell Davis of Arkansas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
John was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, the American Legion Post 5333 and the Texas Rifle Association and the NRA. He was also an avid sports and outdoorsman.
Funeral service was held Friday, June 12, 2009, at All Faiths of the Pines Funeral Home in Smithville. Graveside service followed at New Hope Cemetery, Cedar Park.
