Eda Rose Ballinger

Eda Rose Ballinger, 84, of Manchaca, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Born in Burdine, Kentucky, Eda Rose was raised in the West Virginia area. She left home at an early age to attend nurses training in Washington, D.C.. Here she met a young medical student, Edwin Ballinger, who later became her husband. After spending 26 years as an Air Force wife, Eda settled in Manchaca with her husband, Dr. Edwin Ballinger, where she assisted Dr. Ballinger with his private practice serving the people of Manchaca and South Austin.


Eda loved spending time on their farm in Uhland with their horses and cows. Spending time with her children and grandchildren gave her an abundance of joy. She brought joy and comfort to her family as well as many others around her.


Eda Rose Ballinger is survived by brother, Bob Blevins of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Abby and husband Allen Whiteside of Peyton, CO; daughter, Robin and husband Richard Mckean and their children Katherine and Adam of Kyle; son Dr. Scott Ballinger and wife Cyndi and their children Zachary, Cecelia and Elizabeth of Odenville, Alabama, as well as her faithful friend and companion, Maxie.


Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., May 2, at Harrell Funeral Home Chapel in Kyle.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association and Cancer Research. The family gives thanks to CTMC Hospice and Rescare of San Marcos for all their care and support.
