A few Leisurewoods homeowners told to boil water

About nine or 10 families in Leisurewoods are being asked to boil their water after a small water pipe break on Friday, according to water supplier Aqua Texas.

Steve Blackhurst, Aqua Texas Environmental Compliance Manager, said the fluctuation between dry and wet conditions over last week caused the pipe to flex and break. To fix the break, the workers had to turn off water flow. Because of that, Blackhurst said, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires a water boil notice go to impacted homes as a precaution.

The nine or 10 homes, all of them on Kinglet Circle and a small section of Pine Siskin, were informed of the health precaution through notices put on the door. No other homes were impacted.

Once the pipe is fixed and flushed, a sample is sent in to a lab to check for potential contamination. When the water company gets the all clear, notices will once again go on doors informing inhabitants the water is safe to use.

Blackhurst estimated that the notices could go up as early as Tuesday morning.
