Hays County Sheriffs deputies arrested Niederwald resident Eric Wayne Russell, 36, and charged him with one count of assault causing bodily injury after he allegedly struck his fiancé early Saturday morning, officials said. The incident occurred in the 11000 block of Camino Real in Niederwald.
Medical personnel with the San Marcos/Hays County EMS and the Chisholm Trail Fire Department were on the scene of the alleged assault for about half an hour, but the victim did not require transport to the hospital, said Hays County spokesperson Mike Thielan.
Bond for the assault charge, a class A misdemeanor, was set at $2,500. Russell also had outstanding warrants out of Williamson County for failure to appear in court following non-payment of child support, a third degree felony. Bond on that charge was set at $5,000.
As of Wednesday, Russell remained in the Hays County Jail.
