Maxine Rose Elmer Shannahan

Maxine Rose Elmer Shannahan, 78, of Buda, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, of post surgical complications. She was born in Harrisville, Michigan in 1930.


Maxine became the bride of William J. Shannahan, Jr., on Dec. 18, 1954, in Long Beach, CA. She was a 25-year member of Santa Cruz Catholic Church, where she volunteered in the office, was a member of the Altar Society; served as a Eucharistic Minister, participated in the Wednesday Morning Rosary Group and The Singing Rosary and a member of The Legion of Mary. She also founded the Survivors Discussion Group at Santa Cruz to aid members in the bereavement process.


She is survived by her three sons William J. Shannahan, III and wife, Diana Martinez Shannahan of Alvarado; Daniel G.Shannahan and wife Phyllis Kellum Shannahan of San Angelo and Robert J. Shannhan and wife Diane Clay Shannahan of Houston; grandsons, Christopher, Sean and Ryan and granddaughters, Randi and Danika; sister Gerogia Kay Stoyke of Harrisville, Michigan. Special thanks go to a very special friend, Jo Burdette Kinnett of Buda, for always being there for Maxine and the family.


Rosary at Santa Cruz Catholic Church on Mon., March 2, at 7 p.m. Memorial service at 12:00 noon Tue.,March 3, at Santa Cruz.
