In the past few years, the neighbors on McGarity Street in Plum Creek in Kyle have gotten to be known for going all out on Christmas decorations and in the past two years neighbor Robert Helm has made his home an annual tradition. His house has become known as the Gingerbread House and he invites Santa to visit with the kids, while his family and neighbors serve hot cocoa and peppermints. Which is still planned for tonight, Dec. 17.

Last night, however, some grinches vandalized the displays, vehicles and other neighbors' properties. Inflatables were slashed, wires to lights cut. It was a sad sight to see, but a fine sight to see were the neighbors all pitching in to undo the wrongs of last night's perpetrators and make a festive celebration for the community. Other Plum Creek residents answered the calls of the Helms and other neighbors that they needed more lights and any decorations they can offer.

Tonight's activities are still a go and the Christmas spirit lives on. And Santa is making his appearance in Plum Creek tonight.
