Dear Editor:

The big problem with the Milestone Development called Persimmon and the other one on FM 1626 adjacent to the city of Hays. Is that the developer persists in cramming down the throats of our elected officials and city planners a development plan with tiny lots and narrow streets like they get approved in major urban areas.

Obviously. Buda and the city of Hays are not major urban areas, but they just ignore this. The two developments that they are proposing are in an area where historically we have had ½ acre to 1+ acre lots. These lot sizes reflect our community and our life style choices. As of this date the developer has refused to consider larger lots on the Armbruster part of the proposed development. This area is adjacent to subdivisions with ½ acre lots.

The developer has done their own survey with their own slanted questions and the have presented their questionable results on page 4 of your paper. The developer’s paragraph 2 is completely false. The city of Buda, the city of Kyle, and Hays County have all passed bonds to improve roads and build new roads in our area that our voters have approved. Paragraph 2 is a cut and paste item that refers to Austin, Westlake and Rollingwood.

The developer says that they are offering benefits, but what they have offered is no different from what they would get approved in an urban area north of us. Where are the benefits? As the old T V ad says “Where’s the beef. We have not yet seen it.

We have only seen the cut and paste for development plans in major urban areas.

Yours truly, John B. Sanford
