Area blood drives held this week
DRIPPING SPRINGS — Dripping Springs area residents will have a few opportunities to save a life by giving blood this week.
An American Red Cross blood drive will be held on Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dripping Springs Ranch Park. A few spots are still available; go to www.redcrossblood.org and type “78620” into “Find a Blood Drive” in the top right corner to pick your appointment time. Donors will have the option of donating a normal pint of blood or a Power Red donation, which collects red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg or O blood. Keep your calendars marked; the next Red Cross blood drive at this location will be held on May 23.
On Feb. 18, a mobile blood drive-thru We Are Blood will be held at the Hill Country Senior Activity Center in Dripping Springs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A few spots are still available; go to http://bit.ly/3x6t9zx to pick your appointment time. According to We Are Blood, about 200 donors are needed each day to keep up with local need.
If you’re able to go a little farther (but not too far) to donate, a few other opportunities in the area will also be available this weekend through the We Are Blood mobile donation clinic. Go to www. weareblood.org for appointment times.
