Candidates unopposed
DRIPPING SPRINGS — The city of Dripping Springs is no longer holding an election in May.
The May 2023 election was called to reelect three positions on the Dripping Springs City Council: Place 1, Place 3 and Place 5. Taline Manassian, Geoffery Tahuahua and Sherrie Parks were the candidates up for reelection.
Applications for a place on the ballot and a declaration of write-in candidacy had to be filed with the city secretary by Feb. 17 at city hall. No candidate on the ballot was opposed.
During the consent agenda portion of its Feb. 21 meeting, Dripping Springs City Council passed an ordinance to declare that each candidate is elected to office and the election is canceled.
The mayor and council members are elected at-large with each council member elected to a Place (1-5). The mayor and council members for Places 2 and 4 are elected in even years, while council members for Places 1, 3 and 5 are elected in odd years.
