DRIPPING SPRINGS — Another development is coming to Dripping Springs to keep up with the city's growth.
With a 2023 population of 8,253, World Population Review reported that Dripping Springs is the 282nd largest city in Texas and is growing at a 19.42% rate annually. Its population has increased by 70.31% since the 2020 U.S. Census, which recorded a population of 4,846.
On April 18, Dripping Springs City Council unanimously approved annexing and rezoning a 94.44-acre property to a Planned Development District located on U.S. 290 north of the intersection of Drifting Wind Run commonly known as “Gateway Village.” The plan consists of 307 single-family residences, 7.2 acres of commercial land and 22.36 acres of open space.
The property is one of three developments in various stages of entitlement within the existing property known as Cannon Ranch. The site is south of the Cynosure/Wild Ridge development and west of Blue Blazes.
A resolution was also approved for the annexation of Gateway Village into Municipal Utility District (MUD) No. 1. The current MUD property was originally established for the Village Grove development. The amount of bonding will increase from $38,675,000 to $67,250,000 to fund the improvements in both Gateway Village and Village Grove.
Specific construction dates for the development have not been provided.
