DRIPPING SPRINGS — On May 2, Dripping Springs City Council unanimously approved a reimbursement agreement between the city and Dripping Springs Water Supply Corporation (DSWSC) for the relocation of a water line.
According to agenda documents, the city has an existing Offsite Road Agreement with Ashton Woods that would fund and construct improvements at the intersection of Rob Shelton Boulevard and Founders Park Road. During the construction of the improvements, it was determined a water line owned by the DSWSC within the city’s right-of-way needed to be moved to accommodate the improvements.
The DSWSC Board approved a change order from another construction contract to complete the relocation for a sum of $29,300. The city will contribute cost participation of $10,000 through a reimbursement agreement.
“We did discover there was a water line in conflict with some storm sewer that needed to be moved,” said Public Works Director Aaron Reed. “City staff and water supply staff worked pretty diligently to try to find a way to not have to relocate that water line. [It] turns out that it needs to be relocated.”
Reed said because the water line is in the city’s right-of-way, DSWSC is responsible for moving it. For the water supply corporation to go out to bid, the project would be delayed by four to six months, which would add additional costs.
