SAN ANTONIO — Three Dripping Springs High School track and field athletes qualified for the UIL 6A State Meet after finishing second in their respective events at the Region IV-6A Meet on April 28-29 at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio.
Senior Ava Williamson advanced to the state competition for the second consecutive year after clearing 5 feet, 4 inches in the high jump. In discus, junior Tomsen Vickery set a school record with a throw of 181 feet, 3 inches on his final attempt to qualify for the state meet for the first time.
On the track, senior Sophia Farris advanced to state in the 300-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 42.29, lowering her previous record by .67 seconds.
The three athletes will compete in the UIL State Meet on Saturday, May 13 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. High jump is scheduled for 9 a.m., discus at 3 p.m. and the 300-meter hurdles at 7:10 p.m.
