Dripping Springs Tigers softball (32-9) played East Central High School (22-13) in the area round of the UIL 6A tournament bracket.
On Thursday, the first game was played at Wimberley HS (neutral site) and the Tigers lost 10-4. On Friday, the second game was played at San Antonio Marion High School (neutral site) and the Tigers won 5-4. On Saturday (tie breaker), the third game was played back at Marion HS. This was a very hard-fought contest and the game was suspended due to multiple lightning warnings.
Finally, after five hours and 10 innings, the TigersĀ scored one run in the 10th inning and East Central scored two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning. The Tigers lost the playoff game 6-5.
East Central HS will advance and play Round Rock High School (22-9) in the regional quarterfinals.
