Dear Editor:
I have lived in Buda for over 20 years and my neighborhood, Creekside Park, has 2 entrances and exits onto FM 967 and that road has become extremely overcrowded and dangerous. Milestone wants to build a development called Persimmon on 775 acres, with 2000 homes, that front onto 967 and will have that as it’s only entrance and exit. They have not yet submitted a complete Traffic Impact Analysis or tree survey to the Buda City Council and have not agreed on lot sizes. The ball is in their court to submit the needed surveys.
Milestone promises future traffic mitigation, but in the meantime, most likely several years, they would cause a traffic nightmare for Buda. They also want Buda to help with water and wastewater while we are in a Stage 2 drought.
They threaten to build without any traffic improvements if Buda won’t agree to their demands. They tried going to Hays County and even donated money to a commissioner, but Hays County denied approval also.
While Milestone sees dollar signs for this beautiful piece of land with many heritage trees on it. Buda wants to protect our area and prevent a traffic nightmare for the city.
