Community members, parks staff and developer representatives gathered at Lake Kyle Park on Monday, July 24, to break ground on Kyle’s first all-inclusive playground. The project is a result of the 2018 Kyle Area Youth Advisory Council’s cornerstone idea to promote inclusivity in all Kyle parks. Phase 1, which includes swings, a merry-go round and sensory equipment, is expected to be complete in September 2023. The Parks and Recreation board hopes to obtain additional funding in October to begin phase 2, which includes shades and more equipment pieces. This is a long-term project the city hopes to continue adding to over the years. On Thursday, July 27, the city will host groundbreakings for the future splashpads at Steeplechase Park and Gregg-Clarke Park at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively. These events are open to the community.
