Dear Editor:
I love rainwater
You know why? Because it makes me feel secure. When the wells dry up and the lakes dry up and we're still waiting for salt desalination to get ocean water to our homes, I will be secure with my clean cistern of rain water.
I have a concrete cistern built into the ground so it keeps the water cool during our hot summers.
The pump I use is a GRUNFOS. I like it because it eliminates the extra holding tank.
I use the PURA SYSTEM to filter my water. It consists of three containers. The first holds a micro or cloth filter. The middle one holds a carbon filter and the last one holds a UV Light to kill germs.
I replace filters twice a year and the UV Light once a year. Except for the Big Freeze a couple years ago when I failed to insulate my motor and containers, this set-up has worked for me since 2009 when my house was built.
What about the cost? About the same as a couple years of airline tickets and eating out.
Important to have a metal roof with leaf protected gutters.
Feel free to call me and come by if you would like to see my set-up.
Text my cell instead of calling so I don't hang up on you thinking you are a SPAM caller: 512 422 0319
