DRIPPING SPRINGS — Pedernales Electric Cooperative invited its employees and families to the Dripping Springs office on Sept. 12 for a baking competition in celebration of the co-op’s 85th anniversary.
Entries ranged from cakes and cookies to pies and a variety of delicious confections. Ted Groholske with The Greater San Marcos Partnership serving as the competition’s grand prize judge.
Employees who didn’t compete still had a chance to participate by taste testing entries with a $5 donation to benefit PEC’s Power of Change Program.
Throughout its history, PEC has been committed to caring for its communities through programs like Power of Change that help support local nonprofits, according to a news release. Showing this concern for community is part of its cooperative difference.
The following employees and their entries were named winners in their respective categories:
• Grand Prize (selected by Groholske based on appearance, taste and texture): Kendra Acosta, PEC media affairs and communications strategist — Lemon Edible Delight (LED) cupcakes
• People’s Choice (selected by employees): Rachael Jones (wife of Benjamin Juarez, PEC journeyworker) — blueberry lemon cupcakes
• Lucky Draw (selected by a random draw of entries): Donna Sloan, PEC member relations agent — cinnamon red hot devils
