DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Dripping Springs High School Tiger Band qualified for the UIL 6A State Marching Contest after placing among the top five bands at the Area D Marching Contest on Saturday, Oct. 21 in Austin.
In the area preliminaries, Dripping Springs finished in sixth place out of 25 bands to advance to the finals. The Tiger Band climbed into fifth following the finals performance to qualify for the state competition, joining San Antonio Reagan, Round Rock, San Antonio Johnson and Round Rock Westwood.
Dripping Springs will be one of 43 bands vying for the state championship, with the top 14 bands advancing to the state finals. The Tiger Band will perform in the state preliminaries at 9:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The state finals will begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
The Tiger Band is making its sixth consecutive trip to the state contest and 18th overall. More information on the UIL State Marching Contest can be found at uiltexas.org/music/marching-band/state.
