HAYS COUNTY — The Hays County Food Bank, Centerfield Sports Bar and Austin’s Best DJ’s & Photo Booths have teamed up to raise donations for Thanksgiving.
According to a news release, there are 30,648 residents and 14.8% of children under 18 are food insecure in the county.
Jason Alexander Rubio, owner of Austin’s Best DJ’s and Photo Booths, has loved ones that live in Hays County and wanted to do his best to help combat some of the struggles the community is facing. To do so, he created the Kyle Singles Mingle Happy Hour.
The event will take place at Centerfield Sports Bar, located at 200 W. Center St., Kyle, from 6-10 p.m. on Nov. 3. Catering to individuals 30-years-old and up, each attendee will have the opportunity to choose one of four nametags. Red means that they have a partner or is not looking for one — they are simply showing up to support. Yellow will indicate that the individual is single, but unsure of what they are looking for. Green is single and ready to mingle. Finally, rainbow will represent looking for LGBTQIA+ relationships only.
A mix of 80s, 90s, 2000s, country and more will be playing throughout the night.
A $3 donation or two nonperishable food items are suggested, including canned tuna, chicken, fruit, vegetables, beans, low-sodium broths and soups, dried beans, jerky, pasta and rice, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, granola bars and baby formula.
