LHS to host fitness event for graduating class

KYLE — This year, the Lehman High School Project Graduation boosters are working together with local fitness vendors to create Get Fit — a fundraiser for the 2024 graduating class — to be held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 in the LHS cafeteria.

Project Graduation is an alcohol-free, all-night celebration to recognize LHS seniors for their accomplishments, while providing food, fun and prizes. The event is nonprofit, parent-run and relies on the generosity of the community to continue to support the seniors.

“Every bit of support, whether big or small, is instrumental in helping us achieve our goals,” proud parent Codi Mangrum said.

According to Mangrum, the graduating class of 2024 is a “remarkable group of young individuals [who are] resilient and enthusiastic [and] ready to step into the future.”

This first event of the year will not only aid in the ability to provide seniors a night to remember and to feel honored after their hard work and dedication, but it will also continue to serve the community by providing an opportunity for education and participation in physical activity.

“Expect a morning full of energy and community spirit,” said Mangrum. “From dynamic Zumba moves to challenging workouts with Camp Gladiator … [There will also be] some pretty amazing raffle items up for grabs.”

Get Fit is an energetic event at LHS with activities, such as Zumba and Camp Gladiator. Local fitness experts Karina Heredia and Edwin Carey will host the sessions and give guests an insight to the benefit of exercise and the various forms it can come in. There will also be local vendors, including Orangetheory Fitness, HOTWORX, Twisted Steel Barbell, Rising Phoenix Martial Arts and BODY20 at the event to discuss classes and more.

Mangrum also emphasized that donating supports a significant milestone for LHS seniors and aids in “creating a memorable graduation night.”
