WIMBERLEY — It was an uneventful start for Wimberley, but with playoff implications on the line and the final home game of the regular season, the Lady Texans found a way to recover from a first period 19-7 deficit against visiting Navarro High School last Friday, Feb. 2. Wimberley held the Panthers to just four points in the second period to cut Navarro’s lead to 23-16 at the half.
Wimberley put 32 points on the board in the second half, 14 points in the third period and 18 points in the final period, while holding Navarro 23-12 (7-5), to only nine points in the second half for a 48-32 win.
Lily Dela Rosa hit three three-point shots, a pair of field goals and was 3 for 4 at the line to lead the team with 16 points. Senior Raygan Pack put in 8 points, senior Baylee Gold 7, Campbell Woodward 6, Laney Hennessee 5, Jade Duncan and Reagan Olmer had 3 points each.
Wimberley 21-15 (6-5), at press time on Tuesday, Feb. 6, travels to play Canyon Lake (1-10), where a win will secure a tie for third place with Navarro in 4A Region IV District 27. Fredericksburg (11-0) will host Boerne (9-2) and no matter the outcome, hold on to first place. Bi-district playoff games begin next week.
