Dripping Springs Tigers travel to Matador Relays

SEGUIN   — On Saturday, March 23, the Dripping Springs Tigers boys and girls track teams traveled to Seguin High School to participate in the Matador Relays 2024. There were a total of 18 Central Texas Area high schools that competed.

The Tigers varsity boys tied for first place with Steele High School, both with 143 points. The varsity girls finished in third place with 72 points, the JV boys placed first with 189 points and the JV girls placed third with 168 points.

The varsity boys 4x200M relay team of Jackson Mills, Kyle Koch, Croix Dacunha and Cooper Reid placed second and brought home the silver medal with a time of 1:29.02 for 16 points. Kyle Koch also brought home the gold medal in the triple jump, with a jump of 44'-5 1/2" and in the long jump he finished second with another silver medal, with a jump of 22' 1 1/2".

In the boys varsity 110-meter hurdles, the Tigers swept all medals: Mattix Dacunha in first place, Noah Lambie in second place and Nick Sanchez in third place. It was another notable performance by the Tigers in the 300-meter hurdles with Noah Lambie in second place, Nick Sanchez in third place and Mattix Dacunha in sixth place.

Rylea Bernhard of the Tiger varsity girls finished in third place with a time of 2:23.44 and Lucy Fredenburg finished fifth with a time of 2:27.52. In the 1600-meter run, Tigers Sofia Vences finished in third place with a time of 5:30.74 and Alexa Velasco finished in sixth place with a time of 5:44.57. Also, Sofia Vences finished third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 11:55.00. In the 300-meter hurdles, Tatum Green finished in third place with a time of 50.62 and Sophia Tyler finished in fourth place with a time of 52.22.

The Tigers are preparing for their district meet on April 3-4 at The Burger Athletic Complex.
