DRIPPING SPRINGS — On Saturday, May 11, the Dripping Springs Tigers Varsity Baseball team traveled to Johnson High School in Buda as a neutral site for the third game in the UIL 6A playoffs against the New Braunfels High School Unicorns. The final score was Unicorns 7, Tigers 6.

The Tigers scored four runs in the first inning and the Unicorns chipped away on the Tigers' lead. The Unicorns took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning and after seven regular innings of play, the score was tied at 6. The Tigers were unable to score in the top of the eighth inning and in the bottom of that inning, the Unicorns rallied to have a runner on third.

The referee called a balk on the Tiger's pitcher and the Unicorns runner on third scored, leaving the Unicorns to win 7-6. The fans were stunned by the call and Unicorns celebrated their victory.

For the first game of the playoffs, the Tigers traveled to New Braunfels High School on Thursday, May 9. The Tigers dropped game one after a lengthy lightning delay; the final score was Unicorns 1, Tigers 0.

Game two was played at Tiger Stadium with a large home crowd cheering the team on. Tiger pitcher Cooper Rummel threw a complete game, gave up one hit and had eight strikeouts. The final score was Tigers 4, Unicorns 0.

The Tigers finished the season with a record of 25-11. The Tigers have seven seniors and will return a large group of underclassmen.
