KYLE — At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14, the Mustang Ridge Police Department responded to a reckless driving call on SH-130. Officers located the vehicle at the intersection of SH-130 and SH-21 and observed the vehicle commit numerous violations.
Officers attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle evaded westbound on SH-21. During the pursuit, the vehicle intentionally crashed into our officer’s vehicle multiple times, according to Mustang Ridge PD. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in a residential neighborhood on Ranch Road 150 in Kyle and the driver fled on foot, running through multiple residences.
At approximately 1:46 p.m., the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call from Travis County requesting assistance with the vehicle pursuit in the area of SH-21/High Road in Kyle. Hays County deputies responded to New Bridge Subdivision in Kyle, where the driver of the vehicle had fled on foot through several residential yards.
A citizen caught the driver, identified as Cesar Villegas Hernandez (DOB: 09/18/2006) in their yard and assisted deputies in detaining him. Mustang Ridge PD transported Cesar to the Hays County Jail where he was booked for the following charges:
- Aggravated assault with deadly weapon on public servant
- Evading arrest/detention with a vehicle
- Possession of controlled substance penalty group 1/1-B >=4G<200G -F2
- Tampering with physical evidence
- Criminal mischief
Bond totals to $45,000.
“We would like to thank the citizen for their help in this case,” said Hays County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Deputy Alyssa Marley.
"Our officers swiftly assisted in securing the scene after the multi-agency pursuit," said Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett. "We appreciate the collaborative efforts of all agencies involved to keep our community safe."
Texas Department of Public Safety Air Support Helicopter was able to track the movements of the suspect the entire time. Other assisting agencies include the Travis County Constable’s Office, Kyle Police Department and Hays County Constable’s Office.
“We are grateful for the immediate response from the outside agencies that assisted and for the citizens who stepped in to assist the officers on scene,” Mustang Ridge PD said.
