That brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Hays County residents to 79; 462 people have tested negative, 24 have recovered and seven have test results pending.

No deaths have occurred among Hays County residents and eight people have been hospitalized in Austin or San Antonio. Two people are currently hospitalized.

New cases overnight included a male between the ages of 10 and 19. More cases in children, and occasional spikes in overall totals, are to be expected as authorities have begun testing all household members in households where one person tests positive.

Kyle leads the county in cases with 33, 24 still active. San Marcos is next with a total of 23, 16 of which are still active.
