DRIPPING SPRINGS — On Friday, June 28, the city of Dripping Springs and the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Development Services Building.

In May, the Planning and Building departments relocated to a new building, which is the former Pedernales Electric Cooperative building, located at 661 West Highway 290 in Dripping Springs. On hand at the ceremony were Mayor Bill Foulds, city council member Sherrie Parks and Deputy City Administrator Ginger Faught.

The decision to relocate comes because the departments are outgrowing their current space at city hall. The new location represents an exciting opportunity for the city to better serve its residents and businesses, according to a city news release.

“As our city continues to grow and evolve, it was crucial that our Planning and Building departments have the space and resources needed to support this development,” said Foulds. “The move to our new building has enabled us to provide even better service to our community."

The move of the departments enables the city to serve the community with increased efficiency for processing permits, inspections and planning approvals, the release stated. The new location is called the Development Services Division of the City.

The new location is equipped to handle inquiries and permit applications efficiently. Additionally, it offers meeting space for consultations with city planners, architects and builders. The departments will continue their mission to promote responsible development that includes maintaining the city's unique historic character while fostering growth.

The city is also hoping to put a new maintenance facility on the property in the future.
