DRIPPING SPRINGS – For the past nine years, Danielle Hass has been helping people feel inspired in their homes through organization, design and styling. From the West Coast to the Midwest and now, the Texas Hill Country, she has guided a vast array of communities and spaces.
“I was a young mom and didn't really have a career path. When I had two little kids, I decided it was, ‘Well, I just needed to get to work,’ and I gave it a lot of thought and wanted to find a career that was flexible, where I could kind of dictate my own schedule and also be my own boss,” Hass explained. “I collected the things I really enjoyed. I enjoyed a couple of things. I really love organizing and I also really love party planning. So, I did a lot of research and really studied up on other professional organizers the way they did things and decided that was the path I wanted to pursue.

Hass, the owner and founder of The Inspired Home, initially started her business in San Diego, California, in 2015 before making her way to West Chicago in 2017 and then, her most recent destination, the Dripping Springs/Austin area in 2022.
Any space can be organized and transformed, Hass said, as she has “done it all,” including play rooms, kids’ rooms, closets, home offices, pantries, kitchens, laundry rooms, mud rooms and more. She also does styling and staging, as well as designs and installs Elfa Closets.
The idea behind the name, The Inspired Home, is that simply put, Hass wants her clients to feel inspired when she works with them on a project.
“When I'm talking with clients, until we finish a project, they still always just say to me, ‘Oh, I feel so inspired by my closet or my pantry or my office.’ And that's exactly what I want people to feel. Beyond just making spaces neat and tidy, I just love how much it impacts my clients,” she shared. “I mean, just last week, I had a client just happy crying [and] giving me a hug, just saying how much her life has been changed after working together … I've [also] done pantries for a lady who loves to bake cookies, and I encouraged her, ‘You know, you love this so much. You should turn this into a business. Your cookies are so beautiful.’ I organized all of her baking supplies and she did turn it into a business. I've organized working mothers' offices so they feel proud to show their background on Zoom and all kinds of things.”
The typical process when a client needs help organizing their home or space is not quick; however, at the end of it all, Hass said that it is worth the investment.
The first step is a complimentary in-person consultation, where Hass will visit a prospective client's home, look at the problem areas that a client would consider working on and Hass will then provide some ideas on what she would do in that space. Once a confirmation is made that the client wants to work with The Inspired Home, a date is booked on the calendar.
“The first day is just a lot of sorting. It's not the most fun day, but it's sorting everything. So, in a closet, for example, we're just sorting shirts, jackets, dresses, [etc.] by color. And then, at the end of the workday, I review the items for the client to see if there are any areas that obviously need to be pared down. That sorting process should make the decision making a lot quicker and easier. When you have things laid out, you can see, ‘Oh, I have 25 sleeveless white shirts. Maybe I only need five of them,’” Hass said. “I do a lot of measurements and determine what product is necessary, as well as consider the aesthetic of the home, closet and the colors I see in the home already. [I will] plan and source products that will complement the aesthetic of the home. I go shopping for everything myself. I have a little bit of inventory of some product and the rest of it is sourced from places like the Container Store, Target and Home Depot.”
After obtaining all of the products needed for the project, Hass will return to the space the next day; she labeled it as a “fun jigsaw puzzle” to get all the pieces working together. The final day is full of finishing touches and lots of labeling, with the client’s input on font and colors, which Hass deemed as crucial to maintaining the system that is put in place.
“I just really love the process of organizing and making spaces functional and beautiful. I truly love that process. It's really fun and therapeutic for me,” she said. “On the other hand, I also really love the way it positively impacts my clients' lives. It's really heartwarming to hear that it really does change some people's lives for the better and inspire them to do things that they love doing.”
Hass’ The Inspired Home is currently located in Dripping Springs and she tries to keep her projects within 45 minutes, but she has done larger projects that can be packed into a few days that are outside of that proximity. For example, she hired two contractors to help her work on a home project in Nolanville — which is about an hour and a half drive. She has also traveled to Lakeway, Bee Cave, Circle C, south Austin and San Marcos.
There is a wide range of prices for the projects because it all depends on the space(s) that the client needs help with, Hass said, but the starting cost is estimated at $1,000.
“I just think it is such an amazing investment, regardless of what space people are considering getting organized. Honestly, you just can't truly have the same caliber of organization in your home without hiring out an expert,” she said. “It's just a gift to yourself and to your family to have a true professional come into your home and [bring] an amazing system that will really maintain itself and feel inspiring and beautiful. It's just a really fun investment that I personally think is worthwhile.”
Home organization companies are not new, especially in the Austin area; however, Hass explained that what sets The Inspired Home apart from those of a larger caliber is that she has a small team that brings a more personalized experience.
“There are a small handful of us that kind of do high-end organizing that truly understand how to create an aesthetically pleasing space, just as much as it is functional; it's truly an art form. I really think there's only a handful of us out there that can do that well, to be honest. What sets me apart [is that] I would consider myself to be in that handful of organizers that can do that. A lot of those companies, at least in Austin, have 15 to 30 employees and I have worked with clients who have also worked with some of these,” she explained. “They truly are great, larger organizing companies, but [the clients] felt overwhelmed with the process and a little bit out of control. So, they sought me out, seeking a more personal experience and my business is just myself and I have one other employee. It's just a really personal experience and I think a lot less falls through the cracks because I'm making all the decisions and considering all the factors that go into how a family operates and uses their kitchen, etc. Especially after I get to know my clients and do more than one space for them, I truly understand how their entire family operates within their entire home and I can really make home make sense for them.”
Hass hopes to expand her business to allow for three people total to work together on her team as that is her “ideal team size” while keeping her preferred smaller business model. Other goals for the future are to update her website, design her search engine optimization and get logos on work bags and shirts.
“I'm pretty happy with how my business model is functioning when it comes to our time in client homes,” Hass said.
