BUDA — Memory care residents at Buda Oaks recently experienced an invigorating Fitness Fun Day last week, which featured resistance band exercises led by Stephen Laperouse from FOX Rehabilitation.
Laperouse, a specialist certified in LSVT BIG, a Parkinson's treatment program, guided the residents through a series of exercises designed to enhance motor skills and overall well-being. LSVT BIG is renowned for its ability to improve physical movement and address emotional and cognitive changes, offering a holistic approach to patient care, according to a Buda Oaks news release.
Tailoring each session to meet each individual's needs and goals, Laperouse ensures that residents are not just exercising, but progressing toward meaningful and achievable outcomes. These treatments help patients develop more significant and purposeful movements that can directly impact their ability to carry out daily tasks and navigate their environment more safely. His dedication and approachability made the event both enjoyable and beneficial.
"Our memory care residents had a great time learning these exercises," said Susan LaBree, executive director of Buda Oaks. "Partnerships like the one we have with FOX Rehabilitation bring immense value to our community. Stephen's work has a profound impact on our residents, enabling them to live healthier, more fulfilling lives."
Buda Oaks extended heartfelt thanks to FOX Rehabilitation for its partnership and eagerly anticipates more fun-filled activities that keep residents smiling and moving.
