Tigers drop season opener to Vandegrift Vipers

On Friday, Aug.

30, the Dripping Springs Tigers traveled to Monroe Memorial Stadium in Austin to take on the Vandegrift High School Vipers in a non-district game. After the battle, the final score was Vipers 31, Tigers 14.

The Vipers won the coin toss and deferred to the second half.

The Vipers opened the game with a kickoff to the Tigers.

The Tigers met a tough Viper defense and they were unable to advance the ball. The Tigers punted and the Vipers were able to score on their first offensive possession.

In the second quarter, Tiger quarterback Maddox Maher connected with Cooper Reid on a 27-yard touchdown and the first half ended with a score of Vipers 31, Tigers 7.

In the third quarter, Maher found the endzone on a 2-yard run.

The Tigers defense regrouped at halftime and made some defensive adjustments. They were able to hold the Vipers scoreless in the second half.
