AUSTIN — The Dripping Springs High School Tigers and the Bowie High School Bulldogs were tied 21-21 at Burger Center when Maddox Maher, the Tigers quarterback, connected on a 68-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Reid to take a 28-21 lead into halftime on Friday, Oct. 11.
That score remained until late in the third quarter when the Tigers (6-1 overall, 3-0 district) took a 10-point lead following Aiden Burgess' 38-yard field goal. Bowie countered with a 77yard touchdown pass to make it 31-28.
Before the quarter ended, Jack Tyndall caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Maher to get that 10-point lead back after Burgess’ point after was good.
Bowie 5-2 (1-2) scored on a 64-yard touchdown pass and the point after was good, making the final score 38-35. Jaceton Gotta started the scoring for the Tigers 7-0 lead on a 23-yard run.
Reid scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Maher before Jack Tyndall had an 8-yard touchdown run for a 21-14 lead and Bowie tied it at 21-21.
Maher completed eight of 15 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Jack Tyndall led in rushing with 34 carries for 126 yards and had 26 yards in receiving with a touchdown. Reid led the receivers with four catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
The Tigers will host Lake Travis High School on Friday, Oct. 18.
