Wimberley coasts past Cougars 41-8

WIMBERLEY — Jarrell High School managed only 133 total yards while Wimberley High School football team (5-2 overall, 3-0 district) racked up 377 yards, with 252 passing and 125 yards rushing, for a 41-8 win on the road against the Cougars (5-3 overall, 2-2 district) on Friday, Oct. 18.

Wimberley quarterback Cody Stoever rushed for 27 yards and two touchdowns, and completed 17 of 19 passes to eight different receivers for 252 passing yards with four touchdowns.

Joshua Belanger led in rushing with 40 yards, Benji Olmedo had 34, Jace Cutrona had 18 and Maverick Jacobs had six. Pass receptions for touchdowns went to Jace Morales, Nolan Waida, Cutrona and Jacobs. Waida led the team in receptions with six catches for 66 yards, followed by Jacobs with 63 yards and Morales with 59 yards.

The Texans will host Gonzales High School (3-4 overall, 1-2 district) on Homecoming night on Friday, Oct. 25 before going to Smithville on Friday, Nov. 1 and return home for Senior Night on Friday, Nov. 8 to face Lago Vista High School.
