Dripping Springs falls to Westlake DRIPPING SPRINGS – Westlake High School hasn’t lost a district game since the 2019 season when the team lost 2625 to Lake Travis and went on to win the 6A D2 State Championship. The Chaps kept that winning district record intact with a 35-14 win over Dripping Springs HIgh School last Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
“Disappointment is to be expected and I understand the scoreboard,” head coach Galen Zimmerman told the Tigers after the game, “But you made them earn it so have no regrets. I’m proud of what you did on the field and the way this team played tonight.”
The time of possession for the Chaps, who average 384 yards and 48 points per game, wore down the Tigers' defense and impeded the offense. Dripping Springs quarterback Maddox Maher completed 19 of 32 passes for 192 yards with touchdown passes to Merrik Bloomgren and Cooper Reid. Westlake’s defense limited the Tigers to 41 yards rushing.
Dripping Springs (7-3) will host McNeil High School (5-5) in a Region IV Bi-District playoff game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 at Tiger Stadium.
