Staff Report KYLE — The city of Kyle is seeking proposals from experienced hoteliers, developers or development teams to design, construct and operate a premier hotel and convention facility.
The facility will be situated on approximately four acres of property within Kyle’s Lake Park District, located along IH-35. The site offers access to a major transit corridor.
The selected development partner will contribute to the city’s economic vitality, according to the city of Kyle. The project is envisioned as part of a larger development that includes a new regional hospital, residential units, retail spaces and a waterfront park.
The project site benefits from its proximity to major attractions, including a regional hospital, Austin Community College’s expanding health sciences campus and easy connectivity to Austin and San Antonio.
“The Lake Park District Hotel and Convention Center will not only provide an exceptional venue for business and leisure travelers, but will also bolster Kyle’s economic development efforts and bring new opportunities to the community,” said director of economic development Victoria Vargas. “This is a key step in creating a destination that reflects our city’s natural beauty, dynamic growth and forward-thinking spirit.”
The city is using a two-step process to select a development partner. Interested parties must first respond to this Request for Proposals (RFP) by 3 p.m. on Dec. 20. Top candidates will then be invited to participate in the second phase, which requires more detailed proposals.
The city is offering the land through a long-term lease for a nominal fee or will transfer it as part of a creative economic partnership. The full RFP is available at www.CityofKyle.com/RFPS.
